DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Sarah Weddington, a Texas lawyer who at 26-years-old efficiently argued the landmark abortion rights case Roe v. Wade earlier than the US Supreme Courtroom, has died. She was 76.

Weddington’s former pupil and colleague Susan Hays stated she died in her sleep early Sunday morning at her Austin house.

Hays instructed The Related Press that Weddington had been ill for a while and it was not instantly clear what induced her loss of life.
Weddington was additionally a state lawmaker, basic counsel of the U.S. Division of Agriculture and an advisor to President Jimmy Carter.
