Shrivelled wheat issue: Centre relaxes quality norms for wheat procurement in Punjab, Haryana

In a reduction to farmers, the Centre on Sunday stated it has relaxed high quality norms for procurement of wheat in Punjab and Haryana within the ongoing 2022-23 advertising 12 months.

Union meals ministry, in an announcement, stated the Honest and Common High quality (FAQ) of wheat with shrivelled and damaged grains has been relaxed as much as 18 per cent with none worth lower.

Nodal company Meals Company of India (FCI) has been allowed to acquire wheat at relaxed high quality norms in Punjab and Haryana, together with Chandigarh, it stated.
