A 15-year-old boy has died and three adults, together with a police officer, have been injured in a capturing in Washington, D.C., Sunday evening, officers mentioned.
The shooting passed off close to 14th and U streets Northwest, in a preferred space crammed with shops, eating places and bars. The world performed host to “Moechella,” a free live performance celebrating Juneteenth.
The Metropolitan Police Division had reported an earlier, separate incident on the live performance, when a combat was damaged up, MPD Chief Robert Contee said.
Shortly after that, there was a secondary incident, Contee mentioned, throughout which “individuals began to scatter” and a few have been “being trampled.” The MPD shut down the live performance as a result of it appeared it was “unsafe,” police mentioned.
The incidents occurred between 6:30 and eight:30 p.m., police mentioned, at an unpermitted occasion related to Moechella. Police mentioned “a whole lot of individuals” had gathered on the block, and the MPD assisted in containing the group to the sidewalk.
