ADAM KINZINGER: Mr. Donoghue, did you ultimately inform the president that mass resignations would happen if he put in Mr. Clark and what the results could be?
RICHARD DONOGHUE: Sure. So this was according to the president’s saying what do I’ve to lose? And alongside these strains, he mentioned, so suppose I do that. Suppose I exchange him, Jeff Rosen, with him, Jeff Clark. What would you do? And I mentioned, Mr. President I might resign instantly. I am not working one minute for this man who I had simply declared was fully incompetent.
And so the president instantly turned to Mr. Engel. And he mentioned, Steve, you would not resign would you? And he mentioned completely I might Mr. President. You permit me no selection. After which I mentioned and we’re not the one ones. Nobody cares if we resign. If Steve and I am going, that is superb. It would not matter. However I am telling you what is going on to occur, you are going to lose your whole division management.
Each single AAG will stroll out on you. Your whole division of management will stroll out inside hours. And I do not know what occurs after that. I do not know what the US attorneys are going to do. We’ve got US attorneys in districts throughout the nation. And my guess could be that a lot of them would have resigned and that might then have led to resignations throughout the division in Washington.
And I mentioned, Mr. President, inside 24, 48, 72 hours you would have a whole lot and a whole lot of resignations of the management of your whole Justice Division due to your actions. What’s that going to say about you?
