TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and First Woman Tammy Murphy are amongst those that rescued canines from a Virginia lab and breeding facility.
The Murphys’ new canine, Morty, is certainly one of 4,000 beagles rescued from the power, which was shut down in July.
“Effectively, this man would have died. They have been going to euthanize any of the beagles that have been left over. So this was a life-or-death transfer,” Gov. Phil Murphy instructed “Inside Version.”
The canines have been despatched to shelters throughout the nation, and all of the beagles have now been adopted. Some, like Morty, live at high-profile addresses.
One other rescued beagle was adopted by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
