IIT campus will come up in South Goa: CM Sawant

A campus of the Indian Institute of Expertise (IIT) will come up in South Goa and efforts are on to determine an acceptable land for it, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant mentioned.

The state authorities had earlier recognized land for organising the IIT campus at Shel-Melaulim village in Sattari taluka of North Goa district, however the challenge was then scrapped following violent protests by locals in 2021.

Later, one other piece of land was recognized at Cotarli in Sanguem taluka of South Goa district however because it was inadequate, the challenge was dropped final 12 months.

He had refused to disclose the realm the place the land was being recognized, fearing “pointless protest”.
