TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A Tanzanian cargo ship sank Tuesday in a jetty within the southern Iranian port of Assaluyeh, state media reported.
The official IRNA information company mentioned the vessel named Anil overturned as a result of containers on it have been configured incorrectly on the port’s dock No. 9. The port has greater than two dozen piers.
IRNA mentioned rescue groups transferred the ship’s crew to security. It didn’t elaborate.
Iran and Tanzania do lower than $100 million in commerce per 12 months. The port is the principle hub for cargo of fuel and petrochemicals produced in Iran and is positioned about 940 kilometers (580 miles) south of the capital Tehran.
Iran’s imports and exports have slowed as a consequence of banking and oil sanctions imposed by the U.S. after President Donald Trump in 2018 pulled America from a nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.
